Program
The course aims to complete the study of Sanskrit language and grammar started in Sanskrit 1. Students deals with the optative, imperative, imperfect, perfect, secondary conjugation and the compounds (dvanda, bahuvrīhi, avyayībhāva). In the second part of the course, the teacher and the students read and comment some hymns taken fromthe Rig-Veda (given by the teacher in the original language with the translation of Jamison & Brereton). A specific focus is given to the analysis of the dialogue between Yamī and Yama, the two first human-beings (RV 10.10).
The course ends with the reading of some texts in late-Vedic prose taken from the Brāhmaṇa. The texts deal with the explanation of the Vedic rituals and texts used in sacrifices.
