This event has expired

The IISC is organizing the Certamen Linguae Latinae for April 2020, a national competition dedicated to students in the last two years of high school. The test is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Friday, April 3. The competition will take place at the premises of the Liceo Giulio Cesare in Rome, which is promoting the event. Other sponsoring organizations include the Municipality II of Rome, the Italian Association of Classical Culture – Rome Delegation, and the Association of Former Students and Teachers of Liceo Giulio Cesare.

The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Sapienza and Tor Vergata universities and is under the patronage of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO and the Italian Institute of Ancient History.

The Banca di Credito Cooperativo and the Lions Club Roma Amicitia provide their supportive contribution.

Participants will be given a Latin literature text and will need to demonstrate their understanding by answering comprehension questions, without relying on an Italian translation.

The IISC will award prizes totaling €5,300, which will be divided into cash prizes and scholarships at the IISC.

Specifically, the prizes will be:

  • €1,000 for the 1st place winner;
  • €500 for the 2nd place winner;
  • €300 for the 3rd place winner;
  • Additionally, each of the top five participants will receive a scholarship worth €700 from the IISC.
