What is it and how does the 0.5 percent tax donation work?
The 0.5 percent tax donation (also known as 5×1000) is a a portion of the Italian personal income tax (IRPEF) that the Italian government allocates to support organizations carrying out socially relevant activities. Every citizen has the right to choose the organization to which they want to allocate their 5×1000.
Choosing to allocate your 5×1000 to the Italian Institute of Classical Studies Foundation does not entail any additional taxes on what you already pay.
Choosing where to allocate the 5×1000 is not mandatory, however, this portion of the tax will still be automatically acquired by the state; that’s why it’s always advisable to express a preference.
